Thanksgiving in Norfolk

We had a lovely time in Norfolk. Photos are here. Especial thanks to Julie and Dave and Lovely Lauren and Handsome Harrison for putting us up, and Ron and Kate for trekking across the USofA.

Also, we have some Halloween photos here, and a few pix of Jojo's first band practice.

September Girl

Whew! Busy month... walking accomplished! It was a fun process to watch, but terrifying. That girl can scoot around! She is having a blast.

Some pictures of September are at this link.

And here's a few of October.

Jack, Mike and Josephine are in a band called Volut.

Here's some guitar time:

So much catching up to do

Yo my peeps. Jojo here. My parents are always trying to sleep, so now that I can crawl like the dickens, as well as operate a chef's knife and post to my own blog, I've decided to take matters into my own hands. Mom, you realize this blog ain't gonna update itself, do you?

Anyway without a doubt the biggest adventure I've had in the last month or so is that I traveled to the ancestral Kasa des Kasenters (aka the Rudert Farm) where there are wild turkies roaming the grounds, and even wilder parties with the distanter relatives (and friends, neighbors, random passers-by) coming to pay fealty to the moi. And at least my very cool GRANDPARENTS, if not my parents, understand my insatiable need for bevies - nay, veritable clouds - of toys, including a car, an outdoor swing of my own (not that I mind sharing on the playground, but it's good to have both!) a wicker stroller from the 19th Century (is that when the dinosaurs roamed?) and lots of books and bloomers. Plus I got to meet my great grandmother Loretta, who was very nice and did not object when I grew mesmerized with her nose and would not let go of it, and Uncle Ken and Aunt Diane, who were silly, which is good, and Aunt Lori and Uncle Tom, who were also silly, but they also had an iPhone. Whose batteries died after a few minutes of being in my presence. (I do mind control, you see, and if I don't get an iPhone, no one gets an iPhone.)

The other adventure I had was chillin' with the Ladies of the Bout! Well, lemme tell ya, they are a cool bunch, too, though we only had time for lunch, chit-chat and shopping! They were in town to rescue up Aunt Phoebe from camp - I guess it was the kind of camp where they teach you to concentrate or something. Grammy J bought us all crepes, which of course babies adore, and Aunt Tessa was there to Keep It All Real, and we wandered along in the city catching up best we could, but all in all it was too short. Come back, ladies! And bring your menfolk, too!

My other new hobby (besides crawling, crusing, yelping with glee, and singing [yes, I sing now!]) is surfing. I am unusual surfer in that don't actually get in the water; rather, I mind-control the surfers already in the water and cause them to wipe out when they get too cocky. Jack Halverson knows my skill best, as I have observed him on several occasions this last month, when the parents have dragged me down to the Resort on the Rockaways, where Jack and Caroline have feted me with much aplomb from the serene confines of their beach side home. We should go more often because it's too fun, but my parents insist on taking the bus.

Other than that, you know, just chillin' in NYC - hanging in Central Park, indulging Dad his fearsome fetish for the public library, eatin' peas (to the exclusion of most other things). I have this game where I play like I'm getting more teeth - everyone starts getting excited and letting me get away with stuff - and then I don't get them. That's fun. I have this other game, too, where I chase the cat - he's pretty slow and old, so it's easy to do, and also I'm officially smarter than him now, given my ability to understand the fine art of Understanding Someone's Finger When It Is Pointing Something Cool At You.

Feel free to phone in with more questions. Jojo out.

JoJo Takes Connecticut

No pictures, alas, but a weekend or two back JoJo and parents visited Tom and Amy and Nina and Henry Houston right across the border in CT. She also met fellow 8-month old Evan, born something like six seconds before she was. As JoJo was between illnesses she was able to enjoy all the fuss made over her. Especially cool was a toy made by the Houstons for her, which rattles and glows in the dark! When dad figures out how to add an image without crashing everything it shall be revealed. Meantime, thanks to the Houstons for everything!

UPDATE!: Mike opts to keep priceless text below.

Mike is supposed to edit some words on this blog once in a while. Honey, all you have to do is hit the button I have with the Blogger logo on it, in Opera, and then head for "edit posts." It's between the Daily Kos button and the Red State button. Ah! I knew you'd find it. Now git rid of this claptrap and say something funny for the people like you do. Oh, and maybe throw in a bone about Ole WhatsherFace.

It's been a little crazy - Jojo had her first illness - a bad sore throat, and a moderate fever - and we were all not so comfy for a week. Now she is back to her sweet-natured self and she is waving at everything, birds, squirrels, muggers... But before all that happened, we went to Rockaway Beach to visit Jack and Caroline, and had a lovely time.

A Double Feature

Now, this next one here is for the dedicated, hard-core, pedal-to-the-metal Josephinephile, for it is 4:30 of nothing but the Child Feeding Herself.

On the Menu Today

Many people have inquired about Josephine's eating habits. Well, they're fine. She eats organic, home-made baby food (thanks for the food processor, Grammy! And the really great ice cube trays, Scott!) Here's a list of what she's had so far, and what's in the freezer for very near introduction:
cereal (oat, rice, or mixed grain, made with formula... too gross for words.)
banana
avacado
acorn squash
applesauce
asparaus (for a while she was enjoying frozen asperagus, until we introduced her to frozen mango)
broccoli
butternut squash
mango (the clear favorite)
papaya
sweet potato
yogurt (water buffalo and regular ole cow)
zucchini

Coming Up Next Week:
apricots
egg yolks
kale
kiwi
parsley (the first of a spice and herb introduction... she's been huffing cinnamon and cumin for a while now!)
pears
prunes

B+B: The 411

Jojo's Kasenter grandparents (photos below) stayed in the nearby B+B, which is one of the cheapest and most convenient digs if you are coming to visit Jojo. It's run by a Roumanian Doctor of Divinity, and basically it's a basement "mother-in-law" apartment: two rooms, a kitchenette, a bathroom. The main room is mainly filled up by a bed which they say is reasonably comfortable (felt that way to me and Jojo, too) and the adjoining office filled up the bed. It's weird, sure. But cheap. And really quirky.
Photos of it are here, and the link to the place, to make bookings, is here. Advance planning is required as Europeans on shoestrings (diamond-encrusted euro-flush shoestrings) often stay.

Mike is supposed to write some witty little context crap here. If you see this message, it's because he's a lazy stay at home dad who eats bon-bons all day while he watches his stories on the teeeee-veeee.
